How SweetSpot scores schools

Every school is scored 0–10 on each dimension you care about, using the same anchor table for every California school. The curves below show exactly how a raw value (a graduation rate, a class size, a chronic absenteeism percentage) translates into that 0–10.

Two design rules to know: the statewide median always maps to score 5 (the plum dotted line on each chart) — so “5/10” means “average California school.” And for dimensions where you can pick a direction (Affluent ↔ Lower-income, Few EL ↔ Many EL, etc.), each direction gets its own curve. Both curves agree at the median; the rest is tuned independently.

Your custom fit score is a weighted average across whichever dimensions you tune up — adjust the sliders on the home page to change the weighting. The curves themselves never change.
